MealsOnDisk 2.8 Changes

  • Added support for networked operations
    • MealsOnDisk can be configured to connect to a database on a different computer
    • Typically this is used to allow more than one computer to access the same data
    • A licence is required for each computer that is running the MealsOnDisk application
    • The licence cost for MealsOnDisk which does not access a local database is 50% of the standard licence
    • In order to connect to a database on another computer, the computers must be connected via a local area network (LAN).
    • In addition, any firewalls running on the computers, or within the network, must be configured so that TCP/IP Port 1433 is not blocked

  • Payment to Volunteers can be tracked
    • Volunteers can now be rostered on more than once per month
    • When volunteers are rostered they can be associated with a duty and a delivery run
    • Volunteer payments are calculated according to the duty performed.
    • Volunteer Duties can be listed and there is a payment amount and a rate associated with each duty.
    • The payment amount is similar to a flag fall - each volunteer performing that duty will receive that amount each time they are rostered
    • The payment rate is associated with the distance of the delivery run. The distance is recorded in kilometres and the rate is $/km
    • The total payment for a volunteer performing one duty is calculated as (amount + rate * run distance)
    • When volunteer payments are processed for a particular day, payments are calculated for each volunteer rostered for that day.
    • Corrections to the payments can be made to handle situations where a different volunteer helped when they weren't rostered.
